We have created this privacy statement as a means to communicate our information collection, use and dissemination practices and to inform you about your choices regarding the use of your personal information. If choices are not made available on a web page used to collect your personal information, please contact us using the information described in this statement. We take your privacy seriously. If you have any questions or complaints about this privacy policy or our privacy practices, you should contact our Privacy Office by email at: [email protected]
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time without notice, please review it frequently. The updated version will be indicated by the “last updated date” and will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes we will notify you either here, post a notice on our website, or send you a notification directly.
1. Information Collection and Use
Registration and Use of Wontok Services and Wontok Websites.
In order to allow you to fully utilize our services, we may request and collect personal and non-personal information about you. Examples of instances where we collect your personal information include: To request information about our services or to become a user of our services, you are required to register with us. During the registration process, we may collect information such as your name, email address, password, your organization’s name, your mailing address, telephone number and the computer hardware and software that you use. When you purchase a subscription, we may also collect your credit card information and billing address. If you request technical support, we will request that you provide us with information that will enable us to assist you, such as your name, address, the software or services that you are using, your computer hardware and third party software that you are using. If you want to communicate with us for any reason, including to give us feedback on any Wontok services or any Wontok website or to request additional information, we request your name, address and contact information (including phone number and email address). You may elect to participate in one or more of our community forums or in one or more of our surveys or requests for feedback. Your participation in our forums and your response to these surveys and requests are voluntary and you may decline to participate. If you elect not to provide us with the personal information requested, we may not be able to respond to your inquiry, register you for our services or process your order. We also may collect and use non-personal information about your use of the Wontok website, such as Internet address or type of browser. In addition, we may track general information about traffic on our websites.
2. Secure DNS Look-Up
The secure browsing application that is made available as part of some Wontok services includes a secure Domain Name System (“DNS”) look-up service (the “Look-Up Service”). The Look-Up Service operates when you are using the secure browser and translates the domain name (e.g., www.example.com) into the corresponding Internet Protocol (“IP”) numerical address (e.g., 123.0.45.678) that corresponds to that domain name. The Look-Up Service collects the date and time of each DNS request and the domain name requested (“Look-Up Statistics”). Look-Up Statistics are not personally identifiable but may be correlated to your IP address and to the license key that was assigned to you when you registered for the Wontok Service, both of which are potentially personally-identifying information. We temporarily store the Look-Up Statistics to monitor and improve our quality of service, and to compile high-level aggregate information about the user of our service. The Look-Up Statistics may be stored for up to 60 days.
3. My Protection Feedback
The “My Protection” feature of some Wontok services collects information about your hardware and software and uses this information to provide you with a “Web Safety Score”, “Web Threat Analysis” or the like. The information collected includes your operating system, your browser and any browser-enabled applications you may have installed (including the version number of such applications), the update status of any anti-malware you may have installed, and the security-related preferences or settings (e.g., frequency of updates, JavaScript enablement, etc.) in place on your computer. The Web Safety Score is computed in response to a web request, which will include the IP address of the computer requesting the score. We log the web request but this information is not correlated with any personally identifiable information that you may have provided to us. We aggregate Web Safety Scores, on an anonymous basis, so that we can improve the value of our services to our users. We may use aggregated, anonymous Web Safety Scores to monitor security levels, recommend improvements and publish reports on web safety statistics. You may choose not to have your Web Safety Score included as part of these aggregate data during the installation process or by contacting us (as described in this privacy policy) after the Web Safety Score application has been installed on your computer.
4. How We Use Collected Information
We use the personal information that we collect for the stated purpose, e.g., if we collect information in connection with an order, we use the information to fulfill and invoice the order. We may also use your personally identifiable information to improve our marketing and promotional efforts, analyze the effectiveness of our services or our websites (or portions of our websites) and deliver customized services, web pages or other content to you. In addition, we may use the information that we collect to provide additional services or information to you or to improve your user experience. For example, we may publish and distribute a newsletter to our registered users or we may contact you with updates on virus, spyware or other malware threats or with announcements regarding new products or services or new features available from us. We use non-personal information about web visitors and website traffic to assess the performance of our websites and improve your website experience. We use the Look-Up Statistics to provide you with the secure DNS look-ups, to monitor and improve the quality of our service and for internal analysis regarding the user of our service. We may use aggregated, anonymous Web Safety Scores to monitor security levels, recommend improvements and publish reports on web safety statistics.
